Disgust.
That's the best way to describe it. And anecdotally, all of Chicago feels the same way. Half the country feels the same way.

Amazement.
That Americans willfully chose this course. Here's what I imagine happened in voting booths across the country:
"Hmmm--Ongoing insurgent warfare? Yes, more of that, please. "
"Record setting deficits? Ok, that's sounds good."
"Amending the Constitution to incorporate Conservative Christian intolerance? Yes, please!"
"Corporate corruption? Yep."
"Outlawing scientific research that can help save lives? Of course!"
"Historic job loss? Great!"
"Denying a woman's right to choose, based on born-again Christian values? Check!"
"Surging Anti-Americanism?" Hell yeah, we need a lot more of that!"

Betrayal.
Some guy in rural Ohio votes Bush because "queers are gross". I get blown up in my cubicle because the world hates Bush, and I happen to live in a major U.S. city. Cooter in Ohio safely watches the destruction on his tv, because terrorists don't give a fuck about rural Ohio. But now I'm dead. Thanks, jackass.

Smugness.
Now, we get what we deserve. Before the election, it seemed that all these shitty things were just being imposed on Americans by a corrupt, unelected regime. Now, we're endorsing all of these shitty things. And we opted for more shitty things to happen. We deserve everything we get over the next four years.

Profound, Utter Sadness.
I feel as though a family member died. A deep sense of despair fills me. The America I thought I knew is dead.
